You can click on the “Quick Start“ tab at the top of any page or click on any of the large green “Quick Start” buttons you’ll find on the That’s Math! website. It will walk you through the steps to become a member.

That’s Math! is a learning community for parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles – any adult who wants to positively influence the children in their life.
If you want to practice and learn how to help the child in your life be more engaged and excel in mathematics, this program is for you.
Features
That’s Math! is a step-by-step, user-friendly program to help you (the adult) deliberately express a positive attitude toward mathematics in front of children. The familiarity of math words, ideas, and concepts helps children to be more comfortable and more engaged with math, both in the classroom and in their natural environment.
Many math terms used in the SAY MATH exercises in That’s Math! are linked to popup definitions. These allow you to see a “real person” definition of the topics being discussed in the SAY MATH exercises. Since the intent of That’s Math! is to model positive math talk, we’ve decided to offer more casual definitions that might work better with your children.
Within each entry is a link to Wikipedia, Wolfram Mathworld or some other authoritative source on the “official” math definition, in case you want to read a more formal definition.
The math terms found in the various SAY MATH lessons are aggregated into a glossary. At the bottom of each glossary entry, there is a list of exercises (with links) in That’s Math! where the term or concept is used.
Let’s say your child is studying multiplication, for instance, and you would like to support him or her. Clicking on “multiplication” in the glossary gives you 7 places to find places to talk positively about multiplication in your world.
It is important to note that the goal of That’s Math! is not to “teach” specific topics. Rather the goal is to help children become more familiar and comfortable with math in general.
In so doing, the child is more interested and willing to engage the material when it IS presented.
Which still leaves the question, “Does it address the concepts outlined in the standards?”
Yes!
The Common Core Standards helped to inform the content of the program. We have included many topics, terms, concepts and ideas found in the standards.
As That’s Math! grows, we’ll continue to incorporate concepts from various standards worldwide. Children of parents participating in That’s Math! will be exposed to and become familiar and comfortable with the topics which will be taught, covered, and discussed in the classroom – where ever that classroom might be.
That’s Math! is specifically designed to be used by parents and other adults. Like the program as a whole, the worksheets are intended to facilitate math related interaction between the adult and child.
Depending on the child’s age/grade, development, understanding of concepts, and ability to engage the math, it may be appropriate for the child to do some of the worksheets on their own.
Remember, the idea is to expose them to math words, ideas, and concepts, not necessarily show them HOW to do math problems. So, even if they don’t fully (or at all) understand what’s happening, doing the worksheets yourself with them there and talking, out loud, about what you are doing has a positive influence.
That’s Math! is a program for long-term lifestyle change. It is a tool to help change the math “climate” in your home (or other environment). Our goal is to change a neutral or negative view of math – “math is too hard” – to “I CAN do math”, or “guess what I learned in math today.”
Depending on their age and how often you engage in positive math-talk, you could see a positive change in how your children relate to math in a matter of weeks.
Grades can go up, but they will do so as your child becomes more comfortable engaging in math – voluntarily.
Unfortunately, not yet.
Currently That’s Math! is designed, developed and deployed by two siblings from East Texas, USA. One of us took some Spanish in school – the other took Latin. Neither of us have the skills to translate That’s Math! into another language.
We would love to offer this program to different cultures and people. If you would like to translate it, or have ideas on how to do so, please contact us!

Great idea!
You may purchase a membership for anyone. Some great people to consider are your grandchildren’s parents, your children’s teachers or the parents of your nieces and nephews.
Currently, we only offer recurring billing as an online purchase option. If you want to purchase a limited time, one payment gift, please contact us. We can work with you individually. We’re also considering making this an online purchase option so we’d like to know how many people would use it.
Here’s how to use the online payment option as a gift:
1. Purchase That’s Math! monthly membership. Use your own name and email address. Like this:
2. After you click “Complete Your Order,” use the email address of your lucky gift recipient. Pick a fun username and password (they can always change it later) to use, too!
3. Send them an email. They will get a welcome email – but it’s a good idea if you send them an email too, in case they aren’t on the lookout for the automated email from us.
4. If it’s not as smooth as it seems it should be, holler at us via the contact form.
With a paying membership, you have access to all the features of the site. You have one username and one password per membership and can have different members of your family use that same login info, if you like. Only one person would be able to login at one time, and all comments and uploads would be under that username.
Of course, if you decide to start with multiple memberships you would be able to interact, individually, with others and with each other. You would have unique usernames so that your comments, etc., would be a bit more personal.
Our memberships are month to month with no long term contract. The first month is under $5 and anyone can discontinue their membership at any time. Because of this “no long-term commitment” feature, we don’t do trial memberships.
Your membership is a no-contract, month-to-month subscription. You are able to cancel at any time.

Because of the nature of recurring subscription, we accept only credit cards for monthly memberships. If you are interested in purchasing bulk memberships for a school or organization, or in giving That’s Math! as a gift, please contact us.

We want to bring That’s Math! into the homes and schools of all who are interested and would benefit from the program. We are open to offering discounted rates for those groups or organizations who would like to involve multiple members. We don’t have a specific policy, per se, but consider each request on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us - no doubt we can find something that works for your group.

That’s Math! is a learning and engagement program for adults so they can use positive math-talk to model a positive math-outlook for kids. We believe in the effectiveness of this research-informed program because we have seen it work with our own children, as well as our classroom and tutoring students.
We don’t have a gurarantee, as influences will vary depending on the way in which parents and adults engage children, how often positive math-talk is used, and how much support the child gets from other adults.
